Chasing Light in Mallorca
During a 10-day family vacation in Port de Pollença, on Mallorca’s northern coast, early mornings and evenings became my prime time for serious photography. The October clouds drifted across the horizon, becoming a canvas for light in ways that summer’s clear blue skies never can. Those hours at the start and end of the day were my sweet spot—perfect for chasing light. The backdrop couldn’t have been better: the Tramuntana mountain range encircling the town and the picturesque Pine Walk running alongside the calm waters of D’Albercuix beach.
My hotel was at the far end of the Pine Walk, just a twenty-minute stroll into town. There, the marina takes centre stage, bustling with boats and framed by charming cafes and shops. On the way, little jetties line the beaches, extending into the calm waters and adding to the area's charm, creating perfect spots for capturing serene coastal moments.
My iPhone 15 Pro Max,captured those moments with stunning clarity. Its advanced camera system—especially the ability to shoot in ProRAW—gave me incredible control over the details, from the subtle textures of the clouds to the nuanced shifts in light. The larger sensor and improved low-light performance meant I could effectively chase the golden hour, capturing the rich tones and layers of the sky as the sun dipped, all without missing a beat.
