Ten years ago I travelled to Zermatt in the middle of winter with one goal: to photograph the Matterhorn. Unfortunately, for the entire trip the mountain remained hidden behind thick cloud. I never fully saw it once.
Ever since, returning has been firmly on my to-do list. For my 70th birthday, my daughter and son-in-law secretly arranged a return visit, knowing just how much I wanted another chance. This time the mountain didn't disappoint. From sunrise to sunset, it revealed itself in all its glory, and every turn seemed to offer another unforgettable view.
The irony is that I've now come home with so many photographs of the Matterhorn that I hardly know what to do with them all.
Some photographic dreams just take a little longer to come true.
