Artist Statement
This series was born from my daily walks along the shoreline during the stillness of the COVID lockdowns. It reflects a deepening connection to nature—a time when the coast became both a sanctuary and muse.
These images transcend mere representation of the coast; they seek to capture its essence, how it lingers in our hearts like a memory or a mood. Each frame becomes a dreamlike journey, inviting the viewer to drift into the surreal, explore, feel, and discover their own quiet connection.
All images are created from around the North Wales coast using intentional camera movement (ICM) with an iPhone. This technique allows me to move beyond literal representation and convey atmosphere, emotion, and the essence of place. These photographs reflect the changing moods of the coast and an inner journey — a quiet dialogue between movement, light, and feeling.

A Unique Experience
Coastal Impressions invites audiences to slow down, feel the rhythm of the tides, and reconnect with the world around them in a new, painterly way. The images resonate with emotion and atmosphere — perfect for venues that celebrate creativity, community, and the natural world.
The exhibition can be more than visual — it can be interactive. Through artist talks, informal demos, and hands-on workshops, visitors can engage with the creative process, explore their photographic expression, and leave feeling inspired. As a highly experienced public speaker, I regularly present to diverse audiences at camera clubs, art clubs, and businesses across the UK and I have experience exhibiting in solo and group shows.
If you are interested to showcase work that is visually striking, emotionally resonant, and deeply engaging, I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss how we might collaborate to bring my series to life in your gallery. I can be contacted via email: adrian@adrianmcgarry.com
Let’s create something memorable together.
Exhibition Support
Meet the Artist sessions
I would be happy to support any exhibition of Coastal Impressions with personal appearances.
Engaging talks, Q&As for visitors
Informal demonstrations and talks can also be expanded into a full hands-on workshop for paying attendees. The practical session offers participants the opportunity to explore creative techniques on their own smartphones, guided by the same principles I use to create the images in the series. It’s an accessible and inspiring way to engage visitors and deepen their connection to the exhibition.
Accompanying Book
A self-published photobook, including step-by-step instructions, can accompany the series and signed printed versions could be offered for sale during the exhibition.
Artwork, Sales & Commission
All works in the series are available as high-quality framed or canvas prints. I’m happy to discuss commission arrangements on the sale of framed artwork, canvas prints, books, and workshops.
